Residency Program

For provisionally licensed counselors and social workers ready to earn their full license. Residents join Backpack Healthcare as clinicians, full-time or part-time, and complete a fully virtual 24-month training program with two hours of supervision every week. Open in Maryland, Virginia, Georgia, Michigan, Kentucky, Kansas, and Rhode Island.

Internship Program

For MSW and MS Counseling students in their concentration year. Interns gain supervised telehealth experience with children, adolescents, young adults, and families. Open to students in any state.

How to Apply

Submit your application. Apply online through our Greenhouse portal using the button for your program.

Upload your documents. Add your resume and any requested supporting documents directly in the portal.

Check your status. Track where your application stands through Greenhouse at any time. You'll also receive email updates from our team.

What We Expect

From Residents

Provide telehealth care to Backpack Healthcare clients as part of your role

Attend one hour of individual and one hour of group supervision each week

Take part in the two-year curriculum, weekly exam practice, and peer consultation

Complete at least two live observed sessions a year, plus quarterly evaluations with your supervisor

Follow the ethical standards of your profession (NASW or ACA)

Stay engaged through the full 24 months of the program
